Former Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin has agreed a deal to join MLS side Charlotte FC as a Designated Player, cutting short his return to Ligue 1 with Lens. The 29-year-old will fill the slot vacated by Wilfried Zaha, who has left North Carolina. Saint-Maximin enjoyed a productive half-season at Lens, scoring four goals with three assists and winning the Coupe de France. Despite the club's wish to keep him, the move to Major League Soccer proved too attractive to turn down.
