FIFA Bans Reusable Water Bottles at World Cup 2026 Stadiums, Sparking Fan Backlash

FIFA has reversed its earlier policy and now bans fans from bringing reusable water bottles into any of the 16 World Cup 2026 stadiums, citing safety concerns about objects being thrown at players and spectators. The decision is alarming health experts, as temperatures at 14 of the 16 venues are expected to reach dangerous heat levels. Fans will need to purchase water inside stadiums instead of refilling their own bottles at fountains, with FIFA promising prices will not exceed standard venue rates. The ban has drawn significant criticism from supporter groups. England fans' group Free Lions wrote: 'What next? Suncream banned and fans forced to buy it in stadiums?' The World Cup begins June 11 in Mexico, Canada and the United States.
