Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has revealed that outgoing manager Pep Guardiola threatened to resign 'around 100 times' during low points in his historic 10-year reign at the Etihad, likening him to 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf.' Khaldoon said he saw himself as Guardiola's 'psychiatrist,' always managing to convince him to stay — until this season, when he could tell the Spaniard truly meant it. 'I knew it, and that's why I didn't fight it,' the chairman explained. Guardiola departs having won 20 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and the Champions League. Former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is expected to be confirmed as his replacement shortly on a three-year deal.
