Andoni Iraola is set to officially sign his two-year contract as Liverpool's new head coach today, completing a rapid appointment process that began after Arne Slot was sacked at the weekend following a disappointing 2025-26 season. The 43-year-old Basque manager guided Bournemouth to a club-best sixth-place Premier League finish and earned a reputation for high-energy, attacking football. He will bring assistant Tommy Elphick, set-piece coach Shaun Cooper and other key staff from Bournemouth to Anfield. Liverpool's sporting director Richard Hughes led swift negotiations, with Iraola purposely choosing a two-year deal — consistent with his preference to earn his contract through results rather than long-term security. He will face the challenge of rebuilding the Reds without Mohamed Salah, who leaves this summer.
