Manchester City are considering legal action after Real Madrid presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme publicly promised to sign Erling Haaland if elected, going as far as holding up a Real Madrid shirt bearing Haaland's name on Spanish TV show El Hormiguero. City fired back with a strong denial, stating the claims are 'untrue,' there is 'no chance' of Haaland leaving, and that no contractual release clause exists — adding the club is exploring legal action over the unauthorised use of their player's image. Haaland's father and agent also dismissed the stunt as 'entertaining but not true.' The Norwegian striker, under contract at the Etihad until 2034, netted 27 Premier League goals last season. Riquelme faces incumbent president Florentino Pérez in Sunday's Real Madrid election.
