Messi Scores in Argentina's 3-0 Win Over Iceland Before World Cup Title Defence

Lionel Messi came off the bench and converted a penalty as Argentina eased to a 3-0 win over Iceland in their final warm-up before the 2026 World Cup. Valentin Barco opened the scoring and Thiago Almada added a late third in Auburn, Alabama. Messi won the penalty with his first touch and then buried it for his 117th international goal, becoming the oldest scorer in Argentina's history. The defending champions open their title defence against Algeria on June 16.
