The 2026 World Cup began with a dazzling opening ceremony at Mexico City's revamped Azteca Stadium, blending fireworks, dancers and a giant trophy in front of more than 80,000 fans. Shakira and Burna Boy headlined with a debut performance of the official song 'Dai Dai'. Andrea Bocelli and EJAE performed the FIFA anthem 'DNA', while Alejandro Fernandez delivered the Mexican national anthem. The Azteca became the first stadium to stage a World Cup opener three times.
