The United States begin their home World Cup on Friday night, facing Paraguay in Group D in Inglewood as the hosts target a long run in front of their own fans. It is Mauricio Pochettino's first World Cup as a head coach. The Americans beat Paraguay 2-1 in a friendly late last year, but questions remain in goal, where Matt Freese is expected to start ahead of 2022 World Cup keeper Matt Turner. Paraguay are playing their first World Cup match since reaching the quarter-finals in 2010.
