For the first time in history, the World Cup launches with opening ceremonies in three host countries, starting in Mexico City on Thursday before shows in Toronto and Los Angeles on Friday. Each event begins 90 minutes before the host nation's opening match. Shakira headlines the Mexico City show alongside J Balvin and Tyla, while the ceremonies, produced by Olympic veteran Marco Balich, share a theme of football uniting people across borders. They open a record tournament of 104 matches across 16 cities, ending with the final in New York on July 19.
